HYDERABADI MIRCH CURRY RECIPE
Hyderabadi mirch ka salan made with Namak Mirch Hyderabadi Mirch Masala — fried green chillies in a rich, tangy peanut, sesame and coconut gravy.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp peanuts
- 4 tbsp sesame seeds
- 4 tbsp desiccated coconut
- 2 onions (chopped)
- 15–20 green chilies
- 1 cup + 2 tbsp oil
- 4–5 garlic cloves
- 10 button red chilies
- Namak Mirch Hyderabadi Mirch Masala (1 packet)
- 2 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- ¾ cup tamarind paste
Method
- In a frying pan, add peanuts and roast until golden brown. Add sesame seeds and desiccated coconut and mix well until fragrant.
- In a frying pan with 2 tbsp oil, add chopped onion and let it fry for 2–3 minutes. Blend together the onion, water and the roasted mixture and keep it aside.
- Wash, pat dry and deseed the green chilies. In the remaining oil, fry the green chilies until they get a good sear and golden colour, and keep them separate.
- In a pot, mix together oil, garlic and whole red chilies. Add Namak Mirch Hyderabadi Mirch Masala and cook for 2 minutes. Insert the tamarind pulp and mix well.
- Now add the fried green chilies and combine. Cover and cook on low flame until the oil separates (4–5 minutes).
